ROBERTO GITTENS JR. HEADED TO WASHINGTON STATE

18519003 10154634421736169 31460708 oTacoma, WA - Roberto Gittens, Jr. signed a letter of intent to attend Washington State during the fall.

The 6-5 guard averaged 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists for Foss High School (WA) this past season.  He was named the Washington Player of the Year.

Gittens is the highest rated recruit to commit to Washington State since Klay Thompson in 2008.  Both Gittens and Thompson were ranked as national four-star players.

His father, Roberto Gittens, Sr. is a former collegiate standout at Hofstra and played for current Villanova coach, Jay Wright. In 2002, Gittens Sr. played for the Big Apple Basketball Pro Touring Team.  A 6-7 power forward, he was known as a tenacious rebounder and inside scorer during his playing days.  He is in the record books for the BAB Pro Touring Team, including Rebounds Per Game (#1, 6.6), Career Rebounds (#3, 40), Most Free Throws Made Game (#3, 7 vs. Loyola, Maryland), Points Per Game (#4, 11.8), Most Rebounds Game (#4, 9 vs. VMI), and Most Blocks (#4, 2 vs. Delaware St. and St. Francis U.).
