GREEN MOUNTain 2 small.jpgColchester, VT - Big Apple Basketball teamed up with SLAMT1D to support their first annual Green Mountain SLAMFest 3-on-3 basketball event.

SLAMT1D is a nonprofit organization supporting children, families and adults living with T1D (Type 1 diabetes). The goal for BAB and SLAMT1D was to fund-raise, increase awareness and improve the lives of people living with T1D through the basketball tournament.

The two-day event featured a three-point shooting contest, a slam dunk contest and a 3-on-3 tournament with over 40 participating teams.  There were divisions for players of all levels including, Middle School (boys and girls), High School (boys and girls) and Adult (men and women).

The event raised close to $6,000 in its' first year and is expected to continue to grow in 2016, with event organizers looking to add additional partnerships and double the number of teams.

"We appreciate BAB's sacrifice of time away from family to come to Vermont and help us raise awareness of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) and funds to send kids with T1D to diabetes camps," said, Jeff Kolok, CEO and President of SLAMT1D.

He added, "SLAMT1D, Inc. looks forward to continuing our
game-changing work with BAB to improve the lives of kids, adults and families battling T1D."

In addition, the Big Apple Basketball participants swept their events and divisions throughout the weekend.  As a last minute entry, Big Apple Basketball President, Jason Curry won the Three-Point Shooting competition, Lowell Ulmer won the Slam Dunk Contest and a BAB team featuring, Jeremiah Mordi, Tahrike Carter, Malik Jackson and Sam Wallace, won the adult men's 3-on-3 tournament.
