Washington, who starred at Boys and Girls High School in the early 80's, was a McDonald's All-American who went on to attend Syracuse University.

At Syracuse, he became one of the superstar pioneers to spearhead the Big East and Orangemen to national recognition.  He amassed 1,400 points, 600 assists and 200 steals.  The Brooklyn native earned Big East Rookie of the Year, 1st Team All-Big East (all three seasons) and 1st Team All-American (junior campaign).  After three spectactular seasons at Syracuse, the 6'2 point guard left college early to enter the NBA and was the #13 pick overall by the New Jersey Nets.

Washington spent three years in the NBA with the Nets and Miami Heat.

He later returned to New York City to help youth and coach basketball at Canarsie High School.  On December 9, 2007 he participated in the Big Apple Basketball Challenge as an assistant coach with Canarsie.  Canarsie defeated Bishop Ford, 74-62 at Baruch College.
