New York, NY - Former Big Apple Basketball participants, Thon Maker (pictured, L) and Jamal Murray (pictured, R) have declared to enter the 2016 NBA Draft.
Maker will become the first player to make the jump from high school to the NBA, since 2005. According to NBA rules, all players entering the draft must be a minimum of 19 years old and one year removed from high school. Maker turned 19 in February and graduated high school in 2015, even though he spent a fifth year of high school at Orangeville Prep in Canada this past season.
Murray had a spectacular freshman season at Kentucky playing for John Calipari. The 6'4 guard, helped lead the Wildcats to a #13 national ranking and was named All-SEC First Team. In addition, he was named to the SEC All-Freshman team. The Canadian guard is projected to be a top 10 pick. He averaged 20 points, five rebounds and two assists per game this season.
Murray was a participant in the 2015 Big Apple Basketball Invitational and earned 1st Team All-Tournament. He posted 28 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals for Orangeville Prep.
In the same game for Orangeville Prep, the 6'11 Maker finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists in a 66-64 loss to the Phelps School (PA).
