Harris had previously commited to the University of Washington, but recently had second thoughts after head coach, Lorenzo Romar was fired.

In 2016, the 6-2 point guard played in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational as a junior with Word of God from Raleigh, North Carolina. Harris was named Honorable Mention All-Tournament after posting 23 points, three rebounds, two steals with 9-9 FT vs. South Kent.
