11 BAB PLAYERS IN 2017 NBA PLAYOFFS

Isaiah Thomas WikiNew York, NY - As the NBA Playoffs are in full swing, we'd like to feature 11 NBA players, in this season's playoffs, who played with Big Apple Basketball and participated in Big Apple Basketball programs. Below are the players in alphabetical order.

Steven Adams - is a center with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Prior to playing at the University of Pittsburgh, Adams played in the 2012 BAB Invitational in only his second game in the U.S. after coming from New Zealand. He led Notre Dame Prep to a 79-72 victory over St. Thomas More and in only 22 minutes he shot 7-for-9 from the field and finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. He was named 1st Team All-Tournament.

 

Michael Beasley - is a forward with the Milwaukee Bucks. The former Kansas State All-American played in the 2007 BAB Invitational during his senior year of high school at Notre Dame Prep from Massachusetts. At the time he was considered by many to be the #1 player in the country and didn't disappoint when he came to New York City. He finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks in 22 minutes in a victory over Laurinburg Prep from North Carolina.

 

Rakeem Christmas - is a forward with the Indiana Pacers. The former Syracuse Orangemen played in the 2010 BAB Invitational during his junior year of high school at Academy of the New Church from Philadelphia. He was named Honorable Mention All-Tournament after finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds in an 85-70 victory over Impact Academy from Las Vegas.

 

Danny Green - is a veteran guard with the San Antonio Spurs and won a national championship while at the University of North Carolina. He played in the 2005 BAB Invitational with St. Mary's High School and was coached by current Iona coach, Tim Cluess. Green was the first of several McDonald's All-Americans to participate in the Big Apple Basketball Invitational.  He posted 17 points and five blocks in a 62-60 victory over Paterson Catholic in the 2nd Annual BAB Invitational. During that season St. Mary's was also ranked #1 nationally by USA Today.

 

Maurice Harkless - The Queens product is a forward with the Portland Trailblazers. He played one year of college basketball at St. Johns after a standout high school career at Forest Hills and South Kent. Harkless received the Sportsmanship award after posting 14 points, five rebounds, and four blocks in the 2009 BAB Challenge in a 67-53 loss to Holy Cross as a sophomore. During his senior campaign he was named Honorable Mention All-Tournament in the 2011 BAB Invitational after suffering a loss to Notre Dame Prep.

 

David Lee - is a veteran forward with the San Antonio Spurs. The former University of Florida standout played w/ Big Apple Basketball in the Nike Pro City summer league in 2013 while he was a member of the Golden State Warriors. Lee chipped in 18 points, and set a BAB Pro Summer Team record with 15 rebounds.  

 

Thon Maker - is a rookie with the Milwaukee Bucks. Maker played in the 2015 BAB Invitational with Orangeville Prep - Athlete Institute from Canada. They suffered a 66-64 loss to Phelps School. Maker totaled 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists. He also starred on the same team w/ current Denver Nuggets guard, Jamal Murray. 

 

Markieff Morris - is a forward with the Washington Wizards. The former Kansas Jayhawks standout played in the 2008 BAB Invitational during his postgraduate year of high school at Apex Academy in New Jersey. He was named 1st Team All-Tournament after leading Apex to a win over the Hun School and totaling 24 points, 15 rebounds on 9-for-12 FG shooting.

 

Isaiah Thomas (pictured) - is one of the most fearless and prolific scoring guards in the NBA with the Boston Celtics. The former University of Washington star played in the 2007 BAB Invitational during his junior year of high school at South Kent from Connecticut. He was named 2nd Team All-Tournament after South Kent lost in overtime to St. Benedict's Prep. He posted 29 points and five assists.

 

Wayne Selden - is a rookie with the Memphis Grizzlies. The former Kansas Jayhawks standout played w/ Big Apple Basketball in the Nike Pro City summer league in 2012 prior to his senior year of high school. Selden provided good minutes for BAB as he posted 15 points in 33 minutes. At the time he said, "It was a real good experience. It was another level of basketball." 

 

Lance Stephenson - the Brooklyn native is in his second stint with the Indiana Pacers. He played one year of college basketball for the Cincinnati Bearcats after starring in high school at Abraham Lincoln. Stephenson played in the 2006 BAB Challenge and suffered a 73-66 loss to Christ The King as a sophomore. In his senior campaign during 2009 he played in the BABInvitational versus Jamesville Dewitt. He was named 2nd Team All-Tournament after posting 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists & four steals in a 75-63 loss.
