BAB WINS SEASON OPENER IN PRO CITY

pro city jasmine rotateNew York, NY - The Big Apple Basketball Pro Summer Team defeated PDG-Queensbridge 105-90, in the season opener of the Nike Pro City Summer League.

BAB got off to a quick start in the first quarter, holding Queensbridge to 20 points, while maintaining a 27-20 lead.  Queensbridge dominated the second stanza 31-18, led by former NBA guard, Scott Machado.

After trailing 51-46 at the halftime, BAB came out with a lot of energy to start the third quarter, led by the bench play of Jermaine Lawrence, Ashton Pankey and Desi Washington.  BAB rallied to tie the game at 63 midway through the quarter and used a 9-0 run to cap a 37-19 third quarter edge.

With BAB leading 82-70 heading into the fourth quarter, the guard play of Chaz Williams (18 points, eight rebounds and five assists) and Washington (23 points, 9-15 FG, 3-6 3PT) proved to be too strong. The lead grew to as much as 16 points in the fourth.  Big Apple Basketball was also helped by the strong performance of Tymell Murphy (22 points, 9-13 FG, five rebounds).

Pankey led BAB with nine rebounds, while Lawrence added 12 points and three steals.  Former Los Angeles Lakers forward, Derrick Caracter made his BAB debut, providing a strong inside presence and chipping in with 10 points and two blocks.

Big Apple Basketball returns to action on Thursday, July 2nd at 8:30pm where there will face 2014 runner-up, X-Men. All games are free to the public and played at Baruch College in Manhattan.
