IMG 3856Bronx, NY - It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Damian Hyman at the age of 30.

Hyman was a participant in one of our first Big Apple Basketball Scholarship Games in 2004, during his senior year of high school.

He leaves behind his fiancé and many family and friends who cherished his relationship. He attended Truman High School and below is a letter he wrote to Big Apple Basketball during his freshman season at Alfred State University.

"I participated in the Scholarship Games and because of that game I ended up at Alfred State College. I led the team in scoring (15 Ppg), assists (5 Apg), was second in rebounds (6 Rpg) and helped lead the team to the playoffs. The first semester I had a 3.3 and this semester I'm on pace to get over a 3.0.  I think this was one of the best choices that I've ever made because its opening many doors for me, and I'm also meeting many new people. Is there anything that I can do to help out Big Apple Basketball the way it helped me?"
